Instructors are provided with valuable information directing their choice of teaching strategies and course materials. This workshop covers the basics of assessment, including: the purpose and underlining assumptions of classroom assessment, alignment with student learning outcomes and teaching strategies, assessment types, namely formative and summative strategies, and test question design. A significant portion of the workshop will be dedicated to the presentation of a process for creating high-quality multiple choice items ideal for large classrooms.
