| Description: |
Second in a series of workshops for graduate students, post-docs, and visiting scholars whose primary language is not English. This interactive workshop provides instructors and public speakers with functional vocabulary for describing a visual aid aloud. It promotes comprehensible speech by teaching the importance of stressing the correct syllable within a word, how to stress a syllable (in terms of pitch, volume, length, and vowel quality), and how to know which syllable to stress.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to:
1. Describe a visual aid from your major aloud to a peer, using the recommended framework.
2. Identify polysyllabic words from your major.
3. Produce stress on the target syllable. |
