Description: This interactive workshop is designed for faculty at any career stage and introduces the core principles of growth mindset, clarifying how they differ from a fixed mindset in a university setting. Participants will explore contextual factors that shape the impact of the mindset framework.

The session will offer practical, evidence-based techniques that faculty can utilize in their courses, including scaffolding assignments, using reflection, and modeling effective learning behaviors. By the end of the workshop, instructors will be equipped with strategies that support student learning, resilience, and long-term success.

Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to…

1) Define a growth mindset versus a fixed mindset.
2) Recognize the contextual factors that influence the use of a growth mindset framework.
3) Acknowledge the complexity of responsible application of growth mindset theory.
4) Discuss evidence-based strategies (e.g., scaffolding assignments, reflective writing, peer modeling) and interventions shown to foster growth mindset in the learning environment.
5) Integrate growth mindset strategies into existing course structures.
