| Description: |
Fifth in a series of workshops for international graduate students, faculty, post-docs, and visiting scholars. This interactive workshop teaches the intonation that speakers need in order to convey their intended message, with well-placed emphasis. Discourse cues (transition signals) are introduced as tools that help the audience follow the speaker's logic.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to...
1.Distinguish content words (meaningful words) from function words (grammatical words).
2.Pronounce the prominent word within a phrase with the appropriate pitch, volume, length, and vowel quality. |
