Description: |
Advising is widely recognized as a key contributor to student success, retention, and improved graduation rates. Because of this, advisors are constantly called upon to do more to support their students. In this session, we will discuss how our business school developed a data driven proactive advising model and reprioritized advisors' time to best support students and maximize advisor impact without overwhelming advisors, and increased graduation rates by nearly 20% along the way. We will outline the steps we took to create a proactive model including identifying key success milestones, development of a four-semester model of required advising, leveraging technology to establish a caseload management system, and establishing clear timelines for interventions. Attendees will learn about the proactive advising model we have created, see technology examples, and will gain access to resources and templates they can use to develop a plan for proactive advising on their campus. |
