Description: "Data analytics is a rapidly growing field of scholarship and practice, impacting a wide range of industries and academic disciplines. Terms like business analytics, learning/student analytics, and HR/talent analytics have become increasingly common. While digital tools used by faculty and students generate vast amounts of data, much of this data remains underutilized. Key data analytics methods in education and social sciences include machine learning, text mining, and social network analysis (SNA). In this workshop, participants will be introduced to practical frameworks and processes for prioritizing and leveraging various digital data sources. Additionally, this session will provide a step-by-step walkthrough on how instructors can implement social network analysis (SNA) in their courses to enhance student engagement and interaction, using examples from the presenter’s own courses. SNA can help instructors uncover structural patterns and relational dynamics within the classroom."
