Description: |
Facilitators: Claire Carly-Miles, Instructional Associate Professor, English; Melissa Fogarty, Clinical Associate Professor, Educational Psychology; Jean Layne, Lead Educational Consultant, Center for Teaching Excellence
Description: When instructors share their experiences as learners – both successes and struggles – it can be encouraging for students. Knowing that instructors have experienced challenges in learning reminds students that learning is a process. Facilitators will share how they leverage their learning histories to enhance the learning environment for their students. Practical examples of how they have used their learning journeys to structure courses, formative assessments, and activities will be provided. Participants will consider how they may integrate their own personal experiences into their teaching.
Learning Outcomes:
Leverage lessons from their own learning experiences to help students succeed.
Enhance connection with learners.
