Description: Balancing academics, professional obligations, and personal life can often be a never-ending juggling act for our students. For them to be successful and reach their full potential in the classroom, many different elements must be kept in motion. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs can be an insightful framework for designing instruction and classroom experiences that supports all students academically, professionally, and personally. However, helping guide our students in this area–much like a game of Jenga–can be a precarious endeavor. This session focuses on practical strategies instructors can easily incorporate into their own teaching practices to keep their students from tumbling.
