Description: Come join us as we explore the role of identity-based concerns and their impact upon academic motivation, engagement, and achievement for our minoritized students. This interactive session explores sources of student anxiety and depression--specifically as they relate to identity--and how these feelings can influence their behavior and actions. Participants will learn strategies and approaches that will enable them to better support students who may be struggling with their mental health and with their academic learning as a result of identity-based concerns and as they navigate incidents related to social climate. Participants will be able to: • Explore & identify signs of identity based concerns and struggles that might impact your student’s mental health and academic performance • Identify strategies and resources that help support students socially, emotionally, and academically as they strive to succeed in a challenging learning environment
