Description: |
Recent discoveries of hundreds of unmarked graves at residential schools for First Nation
peoples in Canada have shocked the world. Yet the history of colonial boarding schools for
American Indian children in the United States started long before the revolutionary war, which
means the residential boarding school is older than the country itself. This presentation will
discuss what role did this institution have in shaping U.S. history? And how might non-Native
people in the United States grapple with this tragic past in the present? |
