Starts: Friday 1/31/2020 03:00 PM
Ends: Friday 1/31/2020 04:30 PM

Description: The vowel sounds of American English are challenging to non-native speakers because there are so many, and because written English (spelling) does not convey the pronunciation predictably. Increasing one's phonological awareness will increase one's listening comprehension and intelligible speech. Through a variety of activities and handouts, attendees will become familiar with each vowel and with resources to practice listening discrimination and pronunciation on their own. Note: This is the second session of a two-part workshop. Part 2 is restricted to those who registered for Part 1 (see https://ers.tamu.edu/event/7088). Those who attend Part 1 will automatically be registered for Part 2.
