Description: The University Libraries and the Center for Teaching Excellence invite all faculty and staff for an interactive working session on understanding fair use, an important doctrine within copyright law. Fair use, and its flexibility, can help you choose content for your course, decide what picture to use in your book, or what table to use in your conference presentation. Workshop participants will learn the fair use basics, focusing only on the four factors noted in the United States Code, Title 17, ยง 107. This is an introductory session; no prior knowledge or experience is expected. By the end, participants will have a better understanding about how fair use applies to their teaching, course design, and research.
