As career readiness and professional skill development become top priorities for higher education, the need for an integrated approach to academic advising and career coaching has never been greater. Advisors are increasingly being called upon to support students not just academically, but in preparing them for meaningful careers beyond graduation. By skillfully incorporating career-focused discussions into existing advising practices, advisors can play a key role in a student's academic and professional success. Through this dynamic webinar, participants will learn how to utilize an integrated advising approach to bolster students’ development by facilitating connections between academic requirements and the cultivation of valuable career readiness competencies. Grounded in practical experience and shared examples, this session provides attendees with the strategies, tools, and resources needed to build their confidence and expand their skillsets.
Participants Will be Able To:
- Identify ways academic advising, across different student populations, can be enhanced by incorporating career-focused discussions into traditional advising interactions, thus leading to students’ professional success and fulfillment.
- Explore areas within current practices in which career-focused discussions can be implemented.
- Leverage strategies, tools, and resources to confidently integrate career coaching conversations into advising practices
- Develop a plan for fostering a holistic, career-integrated advising environment at their institution |
