| Description: |
This workshop assumes that participants already have the knowledge provided in the ELPE Oral Skills Overview Workshop by Dr. Suzanne Droleskey. (Please register for that event separately at https://ers.tamu.edu/event/6775.) In small groups, under the guidance of trained facilitators, participants deliver a presentation under test conditions. Each speaker is scored by the facilitator and other participants and provided with suggestions to improve.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Present a five-minute lecture on a topic of your field to an audience outside your field.
2. Produce and maintain comprehensible, extended discourse without major distractions and without obscuring meaning.
3. Speak at an appropriately slow and consistent speed; smile; articulate; correct mistakes calmly; face the audience; use notes appropriately; and use the whiteboard appropriately.
4. Convey content in an organized fashion (with an introduction, body, and conclusion). |
