What should a syllabus contain? How does the tone of a syllabus affect students?
This workshop outlines components of a student-centered syllabus and discusses common classroom problems that can be avoided or minimized by a well-constructed syllabus. Participants will receive several handouts to support their design of a syllabus.
This workshop is open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to...
1) Identify where to locate required and recommended elements regarding course design.
2) Recognize aspects of course syllabus design supporting engagement, classroom management, and student learning.
3) Construct a course syllabus that supports student engagement and learning. |
