Description: Well-developed critical thinking skills are integral for students to master as they become professionals in their fields. However, students’ personal biases and assumptions can prove to be a challenge when it comes to preparing them to be objective, and open-minded critical thinkers. This interactive session focuses on teaching and learning approaches that can help students better navigate complex situations and scenarios where subjective judgement can have adverse and far-reaching implications. It also explores how teaching students critical thinking means helping them recognize and confront biases and assumptions they may not realize they have and how doing so is crucial for them in their future role as professionals in their chosen fields.
