Description: |
Intended as a follow-up to ‘Advising Every Aggie,’ this session will build on material introduced, such as cognitive biases, identifying productive responses, and differentiating between equality and equity. Participants will consider the role of cognitive biases in everyday advising interactions, consider processes that could help mitigate potential for bias in the advising process, and examine the role of language in communicating unintentional slights known as microaggressions. As with the initial session, we aim to unpack the heated emotions behind these topics and see them as conversation starters for pushing towards a common goal of serving each and every Aggie through the advising process. |
