Description: |
The portrayals of African Americans Muslims on the big and small screen, has been under-explored. This presentation will begin to engage that void by focusing on how African American Muslims are depicted on TV and film. What we see coming out of Hollywood reinforces an idea that they are outside the norms of what we define as African American and Muslim identities. How are these identities constructed in and/or through these media representations and what is the impact? |
