Description: |
This is a brown bag - bring your own lunch event. Small group instruction is a highly effective active learning strategy. When implemented effectively, small group instruction requires students to work cooperatively together and independently, when not with the course instructor, to accomplish learning tasks. This workshop will discuss techniques instructors can apply to support successful implementation of small group activities in any discipline. Topics discussed will include: management routines, student grouping, peer leadership, discussion techniques, and formative assessment. After this workshop, participants will have a new working understanding of how small groups can be designed and implemented most efficiently in the college classroom. |
